Alaska Trip - September 2004

Our daughter Danielle and her fiancé Jeff live just outside Delta Junction.  They had the pleasure of my company for a month :-)

We hunt from up here	but the moose are down there. We also saw black bears down there every day.	the red X up on the bluff is where I was standing when I made the shot,  about 165 yards  away

My first, last, and only Moose	From this point on, its nothing but hard work	Hunting in the Alaskan wilderness is definitely a young person's game :-)
It may not have been the biggest moose ever shot, but it  was more than enough work to cut up and haul out to the canoes.  Jeff and Ellie were impressive!		We hung the quarters up in trees for the night and the bears decided to feast on the head and ribs.  We couldn't find a sign of the head anywhere.  Didn't bother the quarters for some odd reason, so we did have plenty left for moose steaks, roasts, tenderloins, and hamburger.

Bob had to head for home after 2 weeks, but I stayed the whole month of September.  We went out on a caribou hunt, saw a few but didn't get any shots.

We did a little fishing	We watched 6 or 7 otter playing in the river and as $$$ signs flashed thru my mind LOL

and I helped out a little with some odd jobs and repairs.

A snowy end to September,  seemed a good time to head back to Wisconsin

 

Danielle and Jeff were married on May 27, 2005 and we had a great time in AK again for 2 weeks.
